This leads to the history of Iranian terrorism, which has killed government opponents of all political colours in exile, including a large number in Europe. "Berlin, the first trial..." carefully follows these assassinations which took place in Berlin, of which one Iranian and four Lebanese were accused; during their trial, which began in October 93, the Iranian government found itself for the first time being accused as the commissioning agent of these assassinations.  The film also follows the trial of the assassins of Shapour Bakhtiar (the last Prime Minister of the Shah) and of his secretary Soroush Katibeh, which took place in November 1994 at the Central Paris courthouse. Two of the Iranian accused were fund guilty, but Zeinolabedin Sarhadi, an agent of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign affairs is acquitted. This acquittal satisfies the Iranian government and brings angry reaction from the victims' friends and relations.   2nd Film) THE BERLIN TRIAL: IRANIAN TERRORISM CONDEMNED (Length: 52 min) برلين - وقايع محکوميت  تروريسم دولتي ايران (Click Here For Details in Farsi)  This documentary enquiry starts out from the assassination of four members of the Iranian Kurdish political opposition on September 17th, 1992 in the Mykonos Restaurant in Berlin. The film closely investigates all the ramifications of these murders. In October 1993 the trial began of one Iranian and four Lebanese citizens, accused of carrying out this terrorist attack. The trial lasted three and a half years. On April 10, 1997, the Berlin court, after 247 public hearings, reached a verdict. The judge sentenced the terrorists to jail. For the first time in history, he also convicted the leaders of the Iranian state as the people who ordered the assassinations. Immediately, the European governments took the decision to recall their ambassadors from Tehran. The film recounts the seven months of political crisis between the European Union and Iran, which ended with the return of the European ambassadors to Tehran in November 97. The ambassadors' return was heralded by Tehran as a victory, for Iranian regime had succeeded in laying down its conditions to the European Union.
